I'm Derek Morris

I'm a designer at heart with a passion for creating homes that are as livable as they are beautiful. My love for architecture and design started early. Long before I launched Happy Karma Homes in 2019, I was sketching floor plans as a hobby. Today, that same passion is woven into every design and home we bring to life.

Before following my true calling, I spent 15 years in corporate accounting. But the pull toward home design was too strong to ignore. Taking the leap into my "Zone of Genius" (any fellow The Big Leap fans out there?) was the best decision I ever made.

Since then, I’ve been designing and redesigning homes from the ground up, transforming both new builds and down-to-the-stud remodels—many with thoughtful additions. As a Design + Construction company, we don’t just create plans; we bring them to life. I’ve also worked closely with homeowners who need help refining their ideas, and I collaborate with interior designers to create stunning 3D visualizations and photorealistic renderings.

Being deeply involved in both design and construction, I understand firsthand the unique challenges of building and remodeling. One thing I know for certain: making all design decisions before construction begins saves time, money, and stress. Thoughtful pre-construction design and high-quality 3D renderings don’t just help you visualize your dream home—they make the entire building process smoother and more enjoyable.
